Acropolis ticket prices 2026 at a glance
The official ticket is called Acropolis and Slopes. It costs €30 for adults and €15 reduced, and since 2025 the price is the same all year. There is no cheaper winter rate any more. Online in the official shop the price is also €30.
The ticket covers the rock with the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaia and the Temple of Athena Nike, plus the north and south slopes with the Theatre of Dionysus. The official Digital Guide app has been included free of charge since March 2026.
You buy it on tickets.hh.gr, the shop of Hellenic Heritage, which runs ticketing for the Ministry of Culture, or at the ticket offices at the entrances. Older addresses you may find in guides either forward there or are out of date.

Who pays full price, who pays less, who enters free
Based on the Ministry of Culture's admission rules. Anyone entering reduced or free must show valid ID or proof at the entrance.
| Visitor | Price 2026 | Proof at the gate |
|---|---|---|
| Adults | €30 | Ticket only |
| EU citizens up to 25 | Free | ID card or passport |
| Non-EU children up to 18 | Free | Passport |
| Non-EU visitors 18 to 25 | €30, no reduction | Ticket only |
| Greek and EU citizens over 65 | €15 from 1 October to 31 May only, otherwise €30 | ID card or passport |
| People with disabilities | Free with a disability rating of 67% or more, plus one companion | Disability certificate |
| Journalists, ICOM and ICOMOS members | Free | Press card or membership card |
| Refugees | Free | Official document |
Further free and reduced categories exist for school groups and their teachers or parents, and for students over 25 at evening or vocational schools in the EU. Some ticket portals claim that young people from outside the EU get a student discount. The ministry's list does not include one, so plan with the full price.

How the Acropolis time slots work
Every visitor needs a ticket with a time slot. The system was tested from 4 September 2023 and has applied permanently since 1 April 2024.
- Daily limit: up to 20,000 visitors a day. When the system started, the culture minister named 3,000 entries for the hour from 8 to 9 and 2,000 for the hour from 9 to 10. Later hours vary.
- Entry slots: you choose a date and an entry time. The slot is the time you go through the gate, not the time you have to leave.
- No time limit inside: once you are in, you can stay as long as you like until closing.
- One entry only: if you leave the Acropolis or the south slope, the same ticket does not let you back in.
- Last entry: 30 minutes before closing, so in summer the latest entry is 19:30.
Show the ticket on your phone or printed. Everyone goes through the same ticket check, whether the ticket came from the official shop or from a reseller.
Official ticket or reseller: an honest comparison
Resellers sell the same timed entry, often bundled with extras. Websites with Acropolis Tickets in their name are usually not official and charge well above €30; examples online start at around €36 to €39.
| Official shop or ticket office | Reseller ticket | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | €30, reduced €15 | Above €30, depending on provider and extras |
| Reduced and free tickets | Yes, with proof at the gate | Check with the provider |
| Time slot | Required | Required, same slots |
| Queue and security | Same check as everyone | Same check as everyone |
| Changes | Up to 2 hours before the slot, max. 2 changes | Provider's own rules |
| Cancellation | No refunds | Some offer free cancellation up to a deadline; read the terms |
| Audio guide | Official Digital Guide app included | Some add their own audio guide or app |
There is no official skip-the-line ticket. When a reseller uses that phrase, it means only that you have booked a timed ticket in advance. If you want flexible cancellation, a reseller can be worth the extra. If you know your date, the official shop is the cheapest option. With guided tours, the entry ticket is often only included if you choose that option, so check before you pay.
Changes, refunds and ID
Official tickets cannot be refunded. You can change the date or slot up to 2 hours before your booked time, and each ticket allows a maximum of 2 changes. Changes are made in the manage section of tickets.hh.gr.
If you buy a reduced or free ticket, bring the document that proves it: an ID card or passport for age, a disability certificate, a press card or the relevant membership card. Large suitcases are not allowed on the site and the cloakroom outside does not take them either. Small backpacks and handbags are fine.
Free days at the Acropolis
On these days entry is free for everyone, and the hill is very busy:
- 6 March
- 18 April
- 18 May
- The last weekend of September (European Heritage Days)
- 28 October
Entry is also free on certain Sundays in winter. The official sources disagree on which ones, so check the current list on hh.gr before you plan around it.
What the ticket covers
The rock, the north and south slopes and the Theatre of Dionysus. The Odeon of Herodes Atticus on the south-west slope is only open during performances and is closed for restoration for at least three years from summer 2026; you can see it from above. The Acropolis Museum needs its own €20 ticket, and the old combined ticket for Athens' sites no longer exists.

The Acropolis Experience: a private visit
Hellenic Heritage also sells an official private visit called The Acropolis Experience. It costs €5,000 per group of up to 5 people and lasts 2 hours. It runs from 1 April to 31 October on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, starting at 6:00 or 20:00, outside normal opening hours. A guide is optional. It is booked on tickets.hh.gr like the regular ticket.
How to get the time slot you want
The early slots go first, especially from April to October.
Book 8:00 early in summer
From June to August the first slot is the coolest part of the day and comes before most groups. Book it as soon as you know your date.
Best time to visit →Or go late
Outside high summer, the last 1.5 to 2 hours before closing are usually the quietest. Late slots are also what the ticket office tends to have left on the day.
Opening hours →Use your two changes
If plans shift, move the slot rather than buying a new ticket. Remember the 2-hour deadline before your booked time.
Other sites and prices →Enter from the south
There are ticket offices at both entrances. Several independent sources find the south entrance quieter, because groups arrive at the west gate.
Getting to the Acropolis →Acropolis tickets: frequently asked questions
How much is an Acropolis ticket in 2026?
€30 for adults and €15 reduced, the same all year. EU citizens up to 25 and non-EU children up to 18 enter free with ID. On five fixed days a year entry is free for everyone.
Can I buy Acropolis tickets at the gate?
Yes, there are ticket offices at the west and south entrances. In high season, often only late slots are left on the day, so booking ahead on tickets.hh.gr is safer.
Is there a skip-the-line ticket for the Acropolis?
No. Every visitor needs a time slot and goes through the same check. Skip-the-line offers from resellers are simply timed tickets booked in advance, usually at a higher price.
Can I get a refund if I cannot go?
Official tickets are not refundable. You can change the date or time up to 2 hours before your slot, at most twice per ticket.
Do students from outside the EU get a discount?
According to the Ministry of Culture's list, no. Non-EU visitors aged 18 to 25 pay the full €30. Non-EU children up to 18 enter free.
Can I leave and come back with the same ticket?
No. The ticket is valid for one entry. If you leave the Acropolis or the south slope, you cannot re-enter with it.
